Dr. Sameera Dharmasena is a distinguished insurance professional with over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry with a strong professional and academic background, he plays a pivotal role in advancing professionalism, education, and innovation in the Sri Lankan insurance sector.

He holds a PhD in Business Management from Girne American University, an MBA from the University of Colombo, BSc (Hons) in Biological Science from the University of Kelaniya and LLB from Open University of Sri Lanka. Professionally, he is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII – UK) and an Associate of the Insurance Institute of India, reflecting a rare blend of academic insight and industry expertise enabling him to effectively lead in both corporate and institutional capacities.

Dr. Dharmasena began his career at Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation (SLIC) and has since held senior leadership roles across the sector in several Insurance companies which are subsidiaries of the largest conglomerates in Sri Lanka. He posses multinational Exposure during his tenner at Allianz Life Insurance Lanka which he worked before he joined with Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation General Ltd. He was elected as the president of Sri Lanka Insurance Institute the only Insurance Education body in Sri Lanka affiliated with charted insurance Institute in UK.

FCII (UK), Chartered Insurer

Mr. Asiri Wickramarachchi is a highly qualified and experienced professional in the insurance industry, with over 18 years of diverse experience across both multinational and local insurance companies. His expertise spans key technical areas, including Underwriting, Claims, and Reinsurance, empowering him to drive strategic advancements within the sector.

In 2011, Asiri earned the Associateship (ACII) and "Chartered Insurer" status from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), UK. He is recognised as the youngest individual from Sri Lanka to achieve this prestigious qualification. His exceptional achievement was further celebrated when he received the “Most Outstanding Student Award” at the 2012 Insurance Congress in Colombo, an honour presented to the highest-performing ACII-qualified individual for the year 2011.

Building on this strong foundation, Asiri later attained the Fellowship (FCII) qualification from the Chartered Insurance Institute - UK, the highest level of professional recognition in the field of insurance.

Before assuming his current role as Chief Officer - General Insurance at Sri Lanka Insurance General Ltd., Asiri served as Chief Operating Officer - Technical at Continental Insurance Lanka Ltd., where he spearheaded various operational and technical functions to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.

Mr. Sanjaya Attanayake is the Chief Business Officer of Sri Lanka Insurance General, an insurance professional with over 33 years of extensive experience across property underwriting, sales, sales management, and key account management. He has demonstrated expertise in establishing and expanding distribution networks, leading recruitment strategies, and driving business growth in both local and multinational insurance companies. Prior to his current role, he served as the Head of Corporate and Personal Lines, where his performance delivery led to his promotion as Chief Operating Officer.

He holds a Level Seven Postgraduate Diploma and has a strong track record with practical industry knowledge proven for building high-performing insurance sales teams, cultivating strong corporate relationships, and spearheading initiatives that strengthen market positioning. He has previously worked at Union Assurance and Fairfirst Insurance between 1992 and 2019, followed by LOLC General Insurance from 2019 to 2025.

Mr. Kathirkhamaruban is a senior IT professional with an impressive 20-year tenure in the industry. He holds a B. Sc. in Engineering from University of Peradeniya, a Master of Business Administration from University of Colombo, and is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Dr. Mikel J Harry Six Sigma Management Institute Asia.

Prior to joining us Mr. Kathirkhamaruban served as the Chief Manager, Group Business Transformation, Group Digital Transformation at Dialog Axiata PLC.

Ms. Fiona Munasinghe works with the marketing team in charge of the General Insurance Portfolio, including motor, fire and buildings, health, marine, travel and miscellaneous. Her role includes brand strategy, new product development, and working closely across departments with internal and external stakeholders.

Ms. Fiona Munasinghe holds an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura (PIMA), and a BSc in Business Management from the University of Manchester(UMIST), UK

She has successfully completed the examinations of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM, UK) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA, UK), and the Certified Management Accountant program (CMA, Australia). In addition, she holds a Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing (APIDM), an Advanced Certificate in International Trade (Ceylon Chamber of Commerce), and the Certified Professional Marketer designation from the Asia Marketing Federation, Singapore.

Ms. Fiona Munasinghe brings over 20 years of experience, including 15 years in senior management across leading local, multinational, and international businesses. She has held key leadership roles including Marketing Director at Hemas Consumer Brands, Director Market Development and Exports at Hemas Consumer Brands, CEO at Stassen Foods and Director Marketing & Modern Trade at Bellose Lanka.

Mr. Gihan Suwaris is the Deputy General Manager of Human Resources at Sri Lanka Insurance General, currently leading the organization’s HR functions.

He holds a Master’s in Business Management (MBA) and a Bachelor’s degree in Leadership & Management. He has also completed professional qualifications in Human Resources Management, Labour Law & Industrial Relations, and he is a Certified Respectful Workplace Leader accredited by Diversity Collective Lanka.

Mr. Gihan Suwaris brings extensive experience in core strategic and transactional people management functions, corporate strategy formulation, organizational design and development, and talent management, having contributed to organizations such as MAS Holdings, Verger Naturals, and Nations Trust Bank. He is also a visiting lecturer in Leadership, Management, and Human Resources at both state and private universities.

Beyond his professional career, Mr.Gihan Suwaris is a former national athlete and captain, representing Sri Lanka in squash at the World Championships, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games, and earning two bronze medals at the South Asian Games. He is an internationally certified coach, a WSF-certified tutor, and currently coaches the national squash team.
